SUMMER: MOVIES: 10 REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO SEE TRUE ROMANCE

So the rain is gushing down and apart from a few scorching days of sunshine the UK summer has been somewhat of a wash out so far. With the weather being so bad this is a great time to chill indoors and watch movies. OK True Romance is a big deal and yeah a lot of people have seen it but there is also a staggering amount of people that haven't seen this movie. This is one of the coolest movies ever made period and is the ultimate trump card to play when watching movies with your girlfriend.

The movie is about a comic store clerk who falls in love with a prostitute on her first night of the job. They decide to get married and he kills her pimp and steals a bag of cocaine to boot. They go on the run to Hollywood and try to offload the goods with the real owners of the cocaine right behind them. The movie is a roller coaster full of sex and violence which culminates with an explosive finish.

So if you have seen this movie go and watch it again and if you haven't, well here are 10 reasons you should see this movie. There about a 1000 reasons anyway but here are my 10.

10 GARY OLDMAN

Gary Oldman performs one his best roles of all time when he plays the evil pimp Drexl. Drexl is a stone cold mother fucker who thinks he is Jamaican and is always quoting how "it aint white boy day" while swinging a lampshade. I know a few people that have named their cats after this character.

9. JAMES GANDOLFINI

A few years before he became the king of New Jersey James Gandolfini starred in this movie as a mafia thug sent to reclaim the cocaine. Gandolfini is ultra violent, merciless and relentless in his quest to reclaim the drugs in this one.

8. BRAD PITT

Although Brad Pitts role in this film is only a minor one he still brings credibility to this movie. Playing the oh so cliche stoner dude who gets baked and watches TV all day Pitt actually brings in some good laughs as well. There is a great scene where the mafia come into his apartment and he is so stoned that he invites them to watch some TV.

7. CHRISTOPHER WALKEN

Christopher Walken plays the Sicilian gang boss who has had his cocaine stolen and is on the hunt to get it back. This is one of Walkens greatest roles and Fatboy Slim or not Walken is probably one of the most stone cold men to ever act in mainstream film. The guy has an aura of a church crypt with such a grave power of delivery with this role.

6. DENNIS HOPPER

The original Easy Rider plays the father of the main character in this one and does a fantastic job. The back and fourth he has with Christopher Walken is nothing short of superb and his history lesson about Sicily is out of this world.

5. ELVIS

Elvis Presley also has a key role in this film where he advises the main character at certain points. You never see Elvis's face in the film but the part was played by Val Kilmer who trumped out again for being cast in another great role. Come on think about it how many other people can say they have played Batman, Jim Morrison and fucking Elvis Presley?

4. PATRICIA ARQUETTE

Sister of the ex WCW champion David Arquette, Patricia Arquette is fucking amazing in this one. She is very cute, very sexy and at times very dangerous. The only other film I have seen with her in was A Nightmare On Elm Street 3 and she was pretty cool in that. Patricia Arquette will be getting inducted into the babes section of Lost Entertainment in the near future.

3. THE SOUNDTRACK

Like the soundtrack to any Tarrantino film True Romances musical soundtrack is nothing short of superb. When the playlist includes Aerosmith, Dean Martin, Soundgarden, Billy Idol, Elvis Presley and Robert Palmer (to name a few) you cant go wrong really.

2. CHRISTIAN SLATER

At the beginning of the 90's Christian Slater was the next big thing and they even gave Robin Hood a brother just as an excuse to cast Slater in the movie. He broke through when he starred alongside everyones favorite Hollywood shoplifter Winona Ryder in Heathers. Heathers is another cool movie that will be reviewed on here at some point also. Slater had it all and really brought the main character to life in the most outlandish style that only he could do. Slater was a bad mother fucker in real life also who used to get arrested all the time and even got caught with a gun at an airport.

1. QUENTIN TARANTINO

The screenplay of True Romance was the en-genius creation of the greatest Hollywood film maker of the 1990's Quentin Tarantino. The movie has it all the violence, the sex, the roller coaster story and of course the trademark top notch dialogue which Tarantino pioneered. The dialogue in movies before his time were always very to the point and the characters always only spoke about topics related to the film. Tarantino gave us characters with depth and we all learned so much about them from what their favorite movies, TV shows and music genres were from the dialogue in these films.

MOVIES: NEW EXPENDABLES 2 TRAILER

A new trailer for the Expendables 2 has been revealed. The new trailer confirms that Arnie will be picking up the guns once again and that Van Dam will not be playing a good guy in this movie. I enjoyed the last movie and just took it for what it was. A movie with the A list oF hollywood heroes with loads of explosions and fighting. I am sure the second will be no different.

FREE MOVIE: DEATH WISH 3

Today on Lost Entertainment we give you a complete movie free of charge to stream on your computer. Todays movie is the Michael Winner cult classic Death Wish 3 with the mighty Charles Bronson.

Death Wish when it first came out in the 70's thrilled and shocked audiences all over when it was first released. It was the story of Paul Kersey a decent man and whose life was shattered after a gang brutally raped and murdered his wife and daughter. Kersey fights back by killing all the muggers and rapists that lurk the darkest parts of New York in some of the most thrilling movie scenes of all time. Paul Kersey was pretty much the Punisher of the 1970's.

Now we jump to 1985 and Kersey is back in New York and this time he is taking the fight to a street gang which is terrorizing the residents of East New York.

The movie is a classic shocker and is cheezey as hell along with some great action scenes involving bikers and massive machine guns. Not one to be taken too seriously but I think its a fucking cool movie. Plus Jimmy Page from Led Zep composed the movie score. This sequel is trashy as hell and I love it.

Today on Lost Entertainment (and depending how long the movie is up) I give you Death Wish 3 in its full entirety as a gift for you the bored people that are sitting here today.

SUMMER MOVIES: DAZED AND CONFUSED

I first saw Dazed and Confused when a friend of mine brought the DVD round when was having a smoke. Not being cliche by watching a stoner movie while getting stoned or anything like that, its just thats what we were doing at the time and most days back then.

The movie was kind of like a hidden gem we found out about it when one of my other friends saw it at stupid O'clock on one of the Sky movie channels.

The movie is the story of the events of the last day at high school in 1976. Although there is a main character in this film it is kind of hard to tell which one is because almost every member of the film is showcased in much detail. This is what I really love about this movie is the level of detail that is displayed in each of the characters. Not to mention the characters them selves were all played by upcoming future Hollywood stars at the time. This movie gave the likes of Ben Affleck, Joey Lauren Adams, Matthew McConaughey, Jason London and Mila Jovovich the big push the needed to progress in the world of cinema. The movie is pure fun from start to finish and is such a great movie to watch alone or with friends.

The movie boasts one of the coolest soundtracks ever, even though Robert Plant was being a cock and snubbed the movie from having the classic Led Zeppelin song thats in the title. The movie boasts tracks from Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Ted Nugent, Peter Frampton, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith and Kiss just to name a few.

The movie is a great coming of age tale which sticks up there with other great movies in this genre such as the Superbads, American Pies and Porkies. Its the story of young love, drugs and just hanging out with the sword of Damocles hanging above with the impending abyss that is the future.

Not only should you see this movie not just because you havent heard of but because me and even the great Quenten Tarrintino urge you to see this film. He also included the film in his top ten of all time.

MUSIC: PROJECT OVERKILL EPISODE II

So five months ago on the debut episode for Project Overkill and announced on the show that I would no longer be hosting any shows after that episode. Five months later I am back with the sequel and stronger than ever. At the time of my last show I was going various problems in my personal life and with running this website as well as my own business it was all getting a bit much. Plus the fact my departure from my previous show with Squid did not go as smoothly as I would have wished. Lost Entertainment nor my radio shows have ever been the place to moan and complain about things and never will.

So after five months of kicking some serious ass in the life department I am back and stronger than ever. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that believed in me and helped me return to the airwaves. Also to all the bands that reach out to me and do the amazing stuff you do.

The next episode will air in July hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed playing it.

There will be a another podcast from me and Jack Hennessey at some point soon and hopefully a classic rock show with Steve Scanlon in the summer.

Thanks again

SUMMER: MUSIC VIDEO: SMASHING PUMPKINS TODAY

I am loving the weather at the moment but my cat is sweating it's bollocks off. Next week there will be more summer madness going on here at Lost Entertainment with some retro summer video gaming, a movie review and the Super Soaker will be joining us.

Today just chill, live well, and like that song said "wear sunscreen". I got sunstroke Friday and burnt my feet after sitting outside writing the Sunny Delight article. I am well brown now so I had the last laugh.

SUMMER: THE DEMISE OF SUNNY DELIGHT

So today I write this one sat in the boiling hot sun on my laptop. The weather is so hot that the keys of my keyboard burn my fingertips every time I touch them. So today I really fancied some Sunny Delight but could not find any anywhere in the shops. It then dawned on me that I haven't seen or heard from this product in a long time. Heres one of the ads to jog your memory.

Back in the 90's Sunny Delight was one of the highest marketed beverages around and was a close third to Pepsi and Coca Cola. I along with Alan Partridge loved the stuff and so did millions of others.

After doing some research about Sunny Delight I found out some hilarious stuff which was fresh news to me. After having many years of successful trading the company got into a spot of bother with a lawsuit. When broken down it turned out Sunny D only contained about 5% fruit juice and rest was just corn syrup and a load of other stuff which tastes nice but in the long run isn't good for you whatsoever.

Some Welsh kid who downed ridiculous quantities of the drink on a daily basis ended up turning orange. The parents decided to sue and from there it went from bad to worse. If this incident would have happened in Essex I  am sure the product would have been praised instead of shunned upon. If you are not familiar with Essex it is a small county just outside of London where breast implants are encouraged at the age of nine and everyones main goal in life is to be more orange than Hulk Hogans right testicle.

Now in these situations I am always on the side of the defendant instead of the prosecutor. People that sue cigarette companies because they got cancer and Coca Cola because it made their teeth fall out really annoy me. Its like suing playboy because one of their magazines gave a 14 year old kid a boner. Any type of product used in excess will always be a bad idea. It's like drinking five pints of milk or even orange juice it self will make you sick or rather unwell.

Sunny Delight didn't bounce back from this and more and more of these orange children were emerging from everywhere. There is no photographic evidence of this phenomenon but this isn't an urban legend this is fact (according to Wikipedia) that these cases did exist.

Shit got even worse when thousands of gallons of the beverage leaked into a river in Somerset turning it orange. Sunny Delight did make a comeback and is still available but it will never bounce back to its former glory. I hope you have a good weekend and enjoy this glorious weather. I'm off now to drink a few gallons of Panda Pops to see if I turn into a giant Panda or maybe a goth so I can sue some people.
